Finolex Fortune

dear blog

i was surprised by the accuracy of "Finolex Fortune" in TOI today.. today morning, the first conversation i had was with papa. i was going out to the gym (for the 2nd time in these holidays). papa told me to wear a jacket. i said that its not necessary. then he pushed his demand again.. i told him, perhaps in a high pitch at high speed , that its sunny outside and i'm not feeling cold. he was visibly upset by my 'outburst' and told me not to talk to him like that. i went inside, wore a huge jacket, pulled up its hood and went out without looking at anyone. even i was upset for having talked to papa in that tone.. it was not cold outside... but that's not the point..

then on returning home (after about 15 mins), i picked up the newspaper. somehow i read my fortune.. and guess what.. it was accurate as hell!!!! here's what it said-

"an event can be set into motion that requires you to put in a lot of effort. you must be careful not to be too forceful when interacting with others. you are emotionally expressive in a way that is unusual for you."

i remember that someone had told me that this fortune applies to that person quite well every time..i guess this fortune is sometimes accurate!!

chicks, cheeks and cream!

dear blog

the day started at 11:45 pm. i had heavily padded the most heavy part of my body ( no, not the brain!). it was to prepare for the inevitable. the date then was 12th of september, soon to change! little drops of humanity emerged from everywhere to form a sea outside room no FS 13- my room. then i moved with the current to the lawn downstairs. soon, i started floating in the sea. regular little pressures were felt on some parts of my body. then suddenly i drowned in the sea of humanity, to reach the seabed with a thud, immediately.

after getting up, i found the whole sea whirlpooling around me. all friends had come there to wish me a happy birthday. i was just amazed by the number of people who turned up to greet me. i could just say thank you to each one of them, though i wanted to say a lot more. then some choudhary, most probably 'MC' shouted that there was a cake too. i was delighted! then 'CM' ran to get the cake. meanwhile, 'LC' and 'BC' just made sure that the crowd did not feel bored, at my roomie's ass's expense! even i gave him a few bumps. soon a cake arrived. it was a big cake and looked delicious. candles came too, from somewhere! i felt so lucky to have so many friends. as soon as i cut the cake, everyone just pounced on it. many people came to me and painted me with cream. incidently, it was the first time in my life that i had cream on my cheeks! many people fought for a piece of the cake and on getting it, mashed it on my face. i requested them not to waste food. at this, i got another coating of cream on my face! now, i could smell cream from my face! then we had a photo session, with me at the centre. a photo used to be clicked wherever i went, unlike normal times. it was a special day.

then the crowd dispersed. i was told by a choudhary to come to fs-1. i thought that he would show me that day's photos. so, i cleaned myself up( it was tough removing the oily cream from the most unlikely places!) i still smelled of oil. it felt great! so, i went to fs-1. there, another, better chocolate cake- straight from the nearest CCD was waiting for my humble cut. all of us 'choudharys' were there. i cut the cake 'choudhary style', with full gestures and expressions. then i got some more cream on my face- this time it was rich chocolate! soon, the cake disappeared. then all my close friends- 'choudharys' wrote 'happy b'day' with cream on the cake box and signed their full C-identity. i will preserve this memento forever. i was so happy to have cut not one, but TWO cakes on a single b'day! this was a first too for me. that night, i told all my friends who had called to wish me how happy i was due to two cakes!

then in the day, i called some of my friends from other departments for a treat. these friends had more girls than boys. (i had ensured that!) we went to a decent restaurant. there too, a cake was waiting for me! i was stupefied! they had even brough a candle which was like a diwali flower pot! here too, some cream came to my face! i felt great. i thanked God and also my friends. then, someone took out a gift too! it was an expensive piece of clothing! i tried to refuse, but they forced me to take it. it was my best b'day ever! the day was going great. soon, we finished the lunch and returned. it was a memorable afternoon!

the next day, i treated my class friends to a party. it was fun too!

i wish that everyone on this earth gets atleast one birthday like this.

some mumblings...

dear blog
it was a bad bad day for me. when things have to go wrong, they do more than expected. we just can't be prepared for them.

we had a class at 11 am today. i was made to get up at 10 am by MC. he, along with a neighbour, started commenting on me... about my looks, fingers and what not. i was just up from sleep, so i couldn't reply in a proper fashion. so, they got on top of me in every conversation. then, when i came back from bath, they started making my video. i became nervous and wore my baniyaan inside out. a lot of fun was made out of that.

then in the party in the evening, my brain had stopped working. for i went and sat with the most hated group of our class. they are hated as they dont let things happen. they just create loud noises and idiotic, vulgar, repetitive comments. and the worst part- i supported them too. this way, i too became a hated person in my class. many people came up to me and asked me what i was doing today. some told me that i , along with others, had spoiled todays party. the rest could not gather enough courage to come up to me to say this, but i could see these words in their eyes whenever our eyes met. after all, u feel really bad when all the girls come up to u to say bad things to u.. i was devastated...

to add to that, and not realising yet that it was a bad day for me, i invited some of my friends from other departments to the party. they were not ready to dance. i acted like a desperate fool and begged them to dance. then too, they didn't dance. then i asaked them to either dance or leave. so they left. and while they were leaving too, i said some bad things to them, though not very clearly....

i just don't know what has got into me. this is not what i am. its a bad day's night. i'll sleep early to end this day. Dear God, pls give me the power to overcome this and return to my earlier form.

Happy Holi and Happy Hours!

dear blog

what a day yesterday was! getting up at 10 am, i had already missed breakfast. seeing the charged up junta in my corridor, i quickly got ready. i remembered to apply some oil to my hair and face just in time before the first layer of gulal got coated on it.

choosing a 'bali ka bakra shirt' to wear was a difficult task. it happens here everytime that people tear each others' shirts. there are some people who are ever ready to take their shirts off. e.g. the cool-hot-everything-u-r-not-dude. their only worry is that people might notice that they are extra thin! on the other hand, there are people who would not let go of their shirts at any cost. i fall in this category. i just don't feel comfortable without a shirt on. another friend of mine - golu is also the same. so, at the start of the day, we had set a mission for ourselves. it was to somehow, anyhow save out Tshirts from getting torn during the yatra to the holy PGH, teachers' colony and back.

when we passed PGH the first time, we had no ammunition- no eggs, no balloons. so we went to gate 1 to get some ammo. then we went to the teachers' colony. the teachers were quite happy to see us. all of us were so well camouflaged that most of them couldn't recognise us! we ate some salty bhang pakoras there and headed to our main battlefield- PGH.

i had managed to save my Tshirt till till now . i accomplished this by taking it off whenever the crowd was charged up and putting it back on wherever required. but somehow, people noticed that my Tshirt was still untorn, so near PGH, my tshirt was torn. the good thing about my tshirt was that it was a thick one. so it required a lot of effort on the part of nymphomaniac men to tear it. it got torn in an interesting fashion. there was a long cut all the way down from the buttons. it looked like a zipper Tshirt with the zip opened. many people joke that i had come in a Tshirt and would go back in a sweat shirt! anyway, it looked quite cool.

but the unbelievable thing was that golu's shirt was still on. he was doing everything he could to save it. when he becomes aggressive( which is a rarity), it is quite life threatening to go near him.

then we all staged a fashion parade in front of the girl shrine. people had dressed up or say covered themselves in all sorts of material- ACC cement bag, robot workshop poster, fig leaves, tree branches, strips from others' Tshirts etc. each of us had prepared some move to perform while walking the 'ramp'. the main ones were chief's-jai ho, pappu's jungli dance etc. we even managed to get 'Body' to walk the ramp and treat the girls to a show of his biceps! however, the most popular move was a wardrobe malfunction by 'treasurer'.the fashP was a huge hit among the girls.they all had come out of their rooms to have a free show. then, towards the end of the parade, when we all 'models' went ahead together, we showered the girls with eggs. it was a sight to watch! though most of us missed the targets, but we took them by surprise. then after some time, some guys went behind their their hostel and threw eggs from a different angle. these guys were sharpshooters-all are in the college cricket team-so there were many hits.

the whole time, the girls were enjoying themselves to the hilt. their faces could tell that they too badly wanted to come out, but their hostel rules had trapped them behind the LoC. when we ran out of eggs, we showered them with mud balls. then we esang some great songs like 'MMH ki kali dal.............' and 'chuma chuma de de' . we even shouted the title slogan, the punchline of LLD!

then we gifted our Tshirts, or whatever was left of them, to the girls by leaving them on THE wall. we later learnt that the girls quickly took those down, probably to save and display as mementos of the holi war.

then we had some happy hours in the evening. rest all is a blur.

just back from a vacation!

dear blog
i have been roaming around the country for the past few weeks. i met many people. actually, this was the first time in my life that i enjoyed meeting 'new' people. the atmosphere there is such that one can approach and talk to anyone.

at IITR i was surprised with myself that i had talked to 60 different people (excluding the seniors, profs) in a span of two days! we had formed a group of 9 people. together we used to roam around the whole campus. we had been given maps of the campus. so we needn't ask anyone for directions. we moved as if we owned the campus. the interesting thing about large campusses is that people don't know everybody. so we even went on to play badminton and squash in their courts! we even went inside the library. its another issue that we just sat on the couch there... who would want to study in the presence of such cozy couches!

the next campus-in-line-to-roam-around was SIBM,pune. after IITR, it looked like a concrete jungle(not even a jungle.. a group of bushes maybe..) in the middle of a desert! it is one hour far away from pune in a village whose name even the autowallah won't understand in one take. no autowallah will go there ever.... that's my prediction for the next 10 yrs! that village is like a university in a nutshell. all the possible, thinkable areas of specialization can be found there. that too, in a single building!! MBA is somewhat respectable there, for it has three buildings to itself and a common auditorium very near to it. on reaching there i just could not figure out the reason so much hype is given to it. You are in pune, yet you are not in pune! who would want to be there, i wondered aloud! so, along with me, i demotivated two other people. they were demotivated to such an extent that one guy just kept mum in his gd and the other girl told in her pi that her hobby was to scream at teachers(she even cooked up some examples!) i did not try any of the above stuff, still, my GT went horriblly bad.

its good that i had to go to pune. atleast i could meet old friends!i have just come back from my vacation to the reality of attendance short.

i have to go for another gd/pi. now its in delhi. i will tel you about the second leg of my vacation after that.

Happiest New Year!

dear blog
happy new year!

let me tell you how i welcomed 2009...

i was in nagpur at that time. Two of my friends were there too. They were Mr Recently-Committed-'RC' and Abbs. we had planned to go "somewhere" on eve of 2009. and nobody knew where!

we first met up in a multiplex-cum-mall. It was the same one in which we had seen ghajini just a day ago. now too, i was the last one to reach the place.there, my friends had already occupied a table at a very 'strategic' place. although i was half an hour late, they didn't feel bored-thanks to the location of the table. that day, Nick had also come. he was a school friend of RC. so i reach there half an hour later than the decided time, at 8:30 pm , expecting to hear a lot of things from them. instead i found them enjoying themselves just looking at people in the mall.

we had two bikes between us. so from there, we went to CCD. That CCD was stranded. so we decided to go to another CCD, about 5 Kms from there. We spent about half an hour there. Meanwhile, Abbs tried his best to get us a cheap entry "somewhere". The whole time he boastfully conveyed that the DJ at a hotel's party was his next door neighbour! he also claimed that the bouncer at another party used to be his classmate! so, we were pretty sure that we would have a destination soon.

then Abbs realised that he needed more cash for the night. so we went in search of an ATM. Nagpur's markets are quite cluttered. ATMs are quite hard to locate. while Abbs and nick filled up their pockets, me and RC took Abbs's bike for a ride. that night, the roads were very deserted that night. seemingly all nagpurians were in some party or the other. Only we were on the road.

while waiting for the neighbour-cum-DJ to call back, we stopped by a pav-bhaji shop and ate it very slowly. we took 45 minutes to eat half a plate pav-bhaji each! It was already 9:30 pm. RC had to go home because many relatives were at his place. so he too was expected there. later, he also confessed it was his dog's walk-time. so he also had to take his dog out for a walk! and people say that only dogs are faithful!

nick stayed near RC's house and had also come on his bike. So both of them had to leave. now, at 9:45 pm, only me and Abbs were left. We had one common feeling- that we have to rock that night. he tried to call his 'contacts' one last time. as expected, they didn't pick up. so we decided to go to a fun park-just 10 Kms on the outskirts of nagpur. our budget was Rs 300 each. but the tickets there were of Rs 1200 'only' . so we came back to nagpur. we went to a Hotel after that. There the entry fee was affordable-Rs 500 for two people. but it was strictly for couples. we even looked around for any 'single' girls to strike a deal, but didn't find anyone in the next five minutes.

so we were on the bike again. we thought that we would spend the last minutes of 2008 on a bike. just then, passing by a farmhouse, we heard loud music. it sounded like a good party. we stopped there. its entry fees was Rs 300. we waited for some time outside its gate. meanwhile a person agreed to sell us the tickets for Rs 100 each. Thrilled, we bought them. atlast, we were going to a party!

The farmhouse had a grand entrance. We were convinced that it would be a good party. at 11 pm,we entered walking briskly. what we saw next, made us laugh for the next two hours. It makes us laugh even now. It was the sight of the party. It was just a lawn. there was a stage, where the 'DJ' sat. there were two speakers on each side of the stage. loud music was being played. there were about 80-100 people. But there were no girls!!! the only one, whom everybody seemed to be ogling at, was with the DJ on the stage! as soon as we realised this, we started laughing out loud. we looked around again- there were no girls! it was a totally male party! Abbs even rolled on the grass, laughing. laughing, we started to beat each other. It was really a funny moment.

well, once inside and dancing, we decided to stay there itself. already it was 11:30 pm. we laughed and danced our time to midnight. The DJ was playing good songs. That was a consolation. soon it was midnight. the DJ welcomed 2009 by releasing balloons. that added to the fun in the situation. we couldn't control our laughter. it was all unexpected. we had expected to go to a hi class party, where the DJ welcomes the new year by a display of fireworks. we just laughed and laughed the whole time at what we got!

well, the good thing was that we welcomed the new year looking at the sky, laughing our hearts out! That's quite a positive start for a year!
