you truly were special...

dear blog

you believe that something or someone will remain with you forever. But then it snaps and the next moment you lose it.It is then that you realise the 'temporaryness' of everything around you.

i had this 'temporaryness' feeling yesterday evening when i discovered that the 'second lock' of my cycle had snapped. i had never imagined it to break. but then, there it was...its head was in pieces. probably someone had tried to break it open. probably it died of old age. probably it gave away its life to save my cycle from being stolen. there are a million possibilities. but, alas, the truth shall never be known.

This had happened yesterday evening, probably in the DoMS cycle stand or the sports club cycle stand. now, the lock was reduced to a showpiece. it could be opened with just a little jerk. So after returning to hostel, i put it on my friend- pappanava's neck, as a collar on a dog. he appeared hyperexcited and quickly broke it open. Then he had an idea to put it on another of our friends- maal's neck. at that time, maal was missing so we put it on tharki chacha's neck. he gave us no reaction. With the 'collar' on, he looked like an obiedient circus tiger, sleeping peacefully. the next person to recieve the 'collar of honour' was Mr Wild. He is the 'wild' in the series 'Man Vs Wild'. putting the collar around him is like belling the cat. but once we acted as if we had locked it, he stopped resisting. he behaved very peculiarly. he became hyperactive. his head started looking at all parts of the roof. it looked like a confused radar.

then suddenly from somewhere, maal appeared before us. Now, maal is a very interesting person. every morning, he always spends about 20 minutes 'massaging' his hair with water. he does that even if he is getting late for class. so that evening too, probably he was massaging his hair when we were 'collaring' everyone. we quickly removed the collar from Mr Wild's neck and now all three of us (pappanava, Wild and me) wanted to put it on maal's neck. we grabbed all his limbs and put it on him. but he resisted so much that we couldn't 'lock' it. maal had become fierce. he started moving his elbows and fists in random directions. it seemed as if it was his last struggle against death.

so thus ended our little operation - the taming of the shrew. finally we put the lock on another friend- Tidu's cycle, in the hope that he might get pissed off on seeing an extra lock on his cycle the morning when he is already late for class. it would be a sight!

its amazing to see that there's such a lot of change in behaviour in the toughest of people. all this is by just a simple lock. simple...and temporary. Long live the 'second lock'!
